The most diverse and creative lifestyle fashion trade show in the world, Agenda Show, was held in Long Beach on July 8 and 9. Located between LA and OC, Long Beach is the perfect spot for Agenda because of the abundance of action sports, lifestyle and streetwear brands in Southern California. Agenda showcases more than 750 brands, including contemporary, women’s, accessories, action sports, outdoor, footwear, and both surf/ skate hard products.
Bringing the coolest brand into the Asian market, as always, Lula 101 went to check out this innovative experience. Some of the brands’ reps and owners that we had a chance to meet up with included CLSC, Civil, REBEL8, Rastaclat, Black Scale, Clear Weather, Mishka, DOPE, and In4mation.
REBEL8’s booth was amazing with its wall made up of four layers including a CRT television (pictured below). Incredibly creative with a retro feel to it. One of the TVs was showing the video (Taiwandering with Joshy ) we shot when Joshy visited Taiwan in 2014.
Along with all of the brands on display, there is no shortage of food, music, entertainment and people-watching to keep attendees entertained.
Agenda show helps Lula continue delivering Service, Styles and Smiles to our customers. We can’t wait to visit next show and hang out with all of our awesome partners again … including my friend, Mishka’s Giant Bootleg Kaiju!
CLSC first started out with six partners who developed 20 ideas for brand names on a piece of paper. Through process of elimination, they narrowed the list down to Honor Roll and Classic Ambition. Classic Ambition was favored, but it was too long. So they dropped
the ambition and cut up Classic to become CLSC which also stands for Can’t Live Scared of Change.
CLSC comes from California, not stereotypical sunny casual California, but from the vivid, classic, diverse and iconic city of Los Angeles. CLSC is a lifestyle, an inspiration, just like special moments captured by the camera lens – classic moments in time. CLSC combines elements of sports, drugs, sex, and music into their emblematic creations, thereby energizing and opening your mind.
CLSC’s favorite motto, “Sucks to Suck,” is simple, yet impactful. When your friends gets into bad situations, it is an expression used to feel sorry for them or even tease them, depending on what happened. We live in an imperfect world, and shit happens, so we can express our feelings through clothes without saying a word – and CLSC understands that.
CLSC owner, Josh Vides, was an employee for one of the most popular brands in the streetwear world: The Hundreds. He was constantly inspired during his time there, and he became a street-culture enthusiast. So with endless ideas and a desire to do even more, he formed CLSC. Living in a house with no A/C, existing on cheap food and drink, he kept his dream alive and worked tirelessly to make it happen.
Since 2009, CLSC continues to grow stronger. Now they’re going global, showing the world their unique designs that give their fans the opportunity to express their own uniqueness while spreading the “classic” lifestyle. Josh has not only reached a career milestone, a personal milestone – he became a father. He is true to his family, just as he is true to his brand.
CLSC’s legacy lies with its fans –champions of individuality who are notbeing afraid to express their opinions about sports, sex and music. Josh is working hard to make sure “CLSC” is a vocabulary everyone will know, and his hope is that the brand inspires its fans and encourages people to demonstrate their style and individualistic approach
Article: Major Drop
Los Angeles based streetwear company CLSC continuously pleases the public eye with their sense of humor (mostly sarcasm ;), being portrayed in their new summer graphics. The inspiration from the LA scenic backdrops displayed in the new Summer 2015 collection. Athleticism and clean- cut goods have also made an outbreak in this new collection.
Check out CLSC summer 2015 lookbook and the inspirations of the designs.
Jackie Robinson was the first black player to play in the MLB. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. After Jackie left the league and had passed away, his number was retired in 1997. Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees was the last person in sports to be able to wear the number 42, now that Rivera has retired, there will never be another player to wear the number 42 in sports. Moving forward CLSC will be utilizing this number to pay tribute to the late and great Jackie Robinson who changed the history of sports so many years ago. Available in black, white, heather, and navy.
Inspired by one of CLCS owner Josh‘s favorite skateboard companies, this Sandwich graphic was inspired by the image on his first skateboard deck in 2002. Replacing the company name with CLSC’s slogan “Sucks to Suck”.
This graphic is from a famous image of one of Muhammad Ali’s knockouts. This is during the Ali VS Cleveland in 1966. Neil Leifer the photographer rigged his camera in the rafters before the fight and was sitting ring side with a remote (in a blue shirt). He had no idea he got the shot until he developed the photo.
Barney from the Simpsons doing his usual thing – enjoying a beer. CLSC script logo below illustration. Available in black, white, and heather grey.
Now, that’s classic!

It is our great pleasure and honor to announce this big event! Major Drop, our friend in Malaysia, will finally have their 1st year anniversary this June. In celebration of that inaugural mark, an anniversary party dubbed “The Lucky 1″ will take place at Slate at the Row (Jalan Doraisamy) on the 13th of that month.
The event will be held from 6 PM to 1 AM through the night including official after party at The Lust KL. Frontrunners of streetwear ICNY, Benny Gold, The Hundreds, Publish, CLSC and TOMS will be showcased in pop-up booths at the event. Not just that, a lineup of good music will warm up this event!
Josh’s first ever pop-up shop is located in a country he has never been to before – Taiwan. See what he thinks about this journey, and what happened on the event day. Also see how he wandered around in the city of Taipei, and trying new, cool, or even bizarre food.
Josh’s journey started from wandering around Taipei city(in the morning. After a series of interviews in the afternoon, he made it to some of the famous spots such as Long-Shan Temple ”龍山寺”, Wan-Hua Sector ”萬華區”, and Hua-Xi Street ”華西街” a.k.a. Snake Alley. He had a great experience and a big culture shock with Taiwanese culture and foods on the very first day.
This is the day when all the events will be unleashed. And Josh finally visited his very first pop-up shop.
When Josh first stepped into the store, he was greeted by the CLSC’s theme decor filled with their signature red and “world map” pattern design. We invited “IP Lockers” to perform “Locking” as a starter, following by a quick interview and social party (special thanks to Heineken!). We also have a CLSC backdrop which allow selfie lovers to preserve this precious memory forever.
Josh decided to shoot lookbook photos in Ximending “西門町”, which is most of the young people’s favorite location. Ximending Station Exit #6 is the busiest area in Ximending, and that’s exactly where we started our shooting. The main purpose of this was to create some local contents. Josh was surrounded by a lot of people and we’re wondering what he was doing.
Cruising through the city, Josh headed to the Skate Park with some cool graffiti paintings to do more lookbook shooting.
On the last day of his trip in Taiwan, we took him somewhere nice to visit. Tamsui “淡水” is the northern part of Taipei, an actual riverside town. Josh had a blast at the castle called Fort San Domingo ” 紅毛城” that was originally built by the Spanish in 1629. After this awesome trip in Tamsui, he enjoyed Shinlin night market “士林夜市”where all the good foods are served.
John visited Endless Sun (Xiao Mao) who is one of the most famous tattoo artist . He got a cool tattoo “經典台灣” which means classic Taiwan!
Not only for business, Josh had a nice trip to Taiwan for these 4 days. We hope we can have him again in Taiwan.
The CLSC lifestyle lands in Taipei this January, when the innovative U.S. brand’s first pop-up shop in the world will debut at HOPES – the U.S. multi-brand store located on the fourth floor of Eslite Wuchang in Ximending. CLSC, the exciting brand from Los Angeles, California, offers fans clean-cut timeless goods designed with key elements drawn from life and street culture.
You can enjoy the CLSC Pop-Up Shop experience by visiting HOPES throughout January and getting CLSC’s latest designs – including exclusive items just for Taiwan. CLSC founder, Josh Vides, will be visiting Taiwan from Jan 8-13, and make sure you mark your calendar for Jan 10, when he will be at the CLSC Pop-Up Shop to greet fans, interview with the media, sign autographs and pose for pictures.
Josh, the talented designer who formerly worked at The Hundreds, started CLSC in 2010 to build an inspiring brand revolving around his views on sex, drugs, sports and music. CLSC, derived from the word “classic,”embraces the spirit of having classic tastes for everything you experience in life. Setting trends, rather than following them, CLSC uses high-quality inventive designs that let you define your own personal style.
Josh hopes you can experience what CLSC is all about, and the CLSC Pop-Up Shop will be a place for him to share his personal story with you. See you in January for the pop-up premiere, and visit HOPES anytime to get your style on!
Here’s a quick message what Josh has to say to the Taiwanese community.
Taipei, Taiwan – 11 / 18 / 2014
HOPES, the new flagship American streetwear store in Taipei, invited celebrities, tattoo artists, rappers, news media, trendsetters and fans at its November launch party in trendsetting Ximending. Showcasing top U.S. brands like REBEL8, Mishka, Benny Gold, 10DEEP, Rastaclat, Melin Brand, the HOPES grand opening event gave the standing-room only crowd a taste of the must-have styles for fans.
HOPES guests were welcomed by the always entertaining MC Lan Yeh and were treated to a special performance by Taipei’s very own DJ Kid. HOPES also commissioned renowned graffiti artist, Rookie, to create a special art installation that was unveiled in the store, and that, along with food, beverages and music made for a day that will not soon be forgotten.
Upon entering HOPES, fans reveled in the skateboard décor, street art and posters with signatures from major U.S. brand owner, giving you the feeling of walking into an urban New York City gallery.
MC Lan Yeh, always energetic and humorous, opened the launch party by welcoming the fans and noting how HOPES is the only store in all of Taiwan to offer such a unique mix of U.S. brands and styles and then welcoming company founder, Sherry, to share the stage with him. Sherry also thanked the HOPES brand fans and told her inspiring story. It’s the tale of how a dream, coupled with vision, hard work and building strong relationships with brands and fans, can help anyone achieve success. “Embrace your hopes, realize your dreams” is a HOPES’ core value that anyone can benefit from.
DJ Kid then took to the stage and transformed the event into an American-style nightclub venue with his exceptional turntable skills. HOPES’ guests grooved to his music, dancing began, and the crowd showered their appreciation on him with whistles and applause.
After his performance, DJ Kid shared stories of his passion for music. At 15-years-old, he discovered his calling, and after countless hours of practice and intense training, his hard work paid off – he placed first at a National Music Competition. From that point on, he became more and more famous in the industry. DJ Kid and Sherry Lu share the same dream: if you insist on pursuing your dream and never give up, you will succeed.
HOPES fans saw that DJ Kid was wearing a very special hat at the grand opening. The hat belongs to one of the newest brands that HOPES store carries – Melin. Their high-end headwear has topflight features like full-grain lamb Napa leather and other premium materials, unique serial numbers and quality packaging. Fans call Melin the Rolls-Royce of headwear for good reason. Melin isn’t for everyone – you have to earn it. At the grand opening, a video of how Melin was founded and flourished, and then a Melin hat valued at $200 was presented to a fan who won a short quiz about the brand.
Rookie – one of the most famous graffiti artists in Taiwan – talked with Sherry about his fascinating artwork, including his special HOPES store installation piece. Rookie used the dressing room’s sliding doors as his canvas. When the doors are closed, the monotone outer artwork suggests dark, unknown matter but, once opened, a luminously unique “HOPES” awakens your senses.
The birth of HOPES
HOPES’ founder – Sherry Lu, came to the states in 2001 with little money, no acquaintances and without being fluent in English. But what she had was a dream. An American Dream.
Knowing that coming to a new country with nothing but the clothes on her back and few possessions would be challenging, her undefeatable “We Can Do It!” spirit drove her to succeed beyond her wildest dreams.
Working tirelessly, Sherry was able to open her first U.S. store, yes, “HOPES,” which ultimately led to her become a leader in the wholesale distribution of U.S. brands in Asia. Fast forward to 2014, HOPES Taipei is bringing the U.S. lifestyle, attitude and trendsetting culture to Taiwan.
The American Dream is also the Taiwanese Dream.
As fans, celebrities and artists partied at the HOPES grand opening, Sherry thanked everyone for their ongoing support. Even the brand founders took part in the festivities in a special video presentation where they talked about their dreams while giving warm shout-outs to HOPES and the fans who support their brands.
Watch it here: (Video link: https://vimeo.com/112301783 ).
After a good time was had by all and many new brand fans and friendships were made, the grand opening press event ended and the VIP fans opening party began, with more entertainment and special surprises, including a HOPES photo booth, U.S. brands cupcakes and much more.

CLSC is a new and upcoming street wear brand and the acronym is pronounced “classic.” Josh Vides is the owner and started CLSC in 2009 with a group of friends. He began by designing a small collection of four shirts and released them at a local boutique in Rancho Cucamonga. From there, the brand spread widely and is now carried by well- known retailers including Active Ride Shop.
CLSC has just collaborated with sports- themed apparel, La street wear brand, Hall of Fame. It is a baseball playoff inspired collab with a twist of Josh Vide’s creative designs. The logo that is intertwined with California and LA Dodgers turned out great and is selling really well. Although street wear is crazy competitive, Josh Vides knows how to keep up and create something new, yet innovative.
The future goals for this brand is to do a collaboration with In- N- Out and the New York Yankees. Vides also hopes to increase the success of this brand and have it be carried worldwide. He is very involved with his buddies and would love to be able to support his friends/ family from CLSC.
