When DJ Vonik was just 15-years-old (formally known as “DJ Kid”) he was rocking crowds and turning heads with his unique hip-hop, house and electronic blends. His humble beginnings included weekly spinnings in front of a neighborhood hip-hop clothing store as he entertained onlookers. With non-stop optimism and great determination, DJ Kid was crowned as the youngest resident DJ at the premium night club destination, “Plush”, at just 18-years-old.

DJ VONIK has always stayed true to his music and spinning roots. He was crowned as the region’s 2009 and 2010 DMC Champion, and he has gone on to represent TAIWAN at the DMC World Championship in London. With ongoing awards recognizing his unique talents, DJ VONIK has also worked on musical projects with renowned pop stars Jay Chou and Show Luo their individual albums.
With their innovative journeys beginning at a young age for both Abraham of Golden Denim and DJ Vonik, their can-do spirits of hard work and passion for their crafts are amazingly similar. To celebrate “Golden Lining,” DJ Vonik has joined with the Golden Denim family to spread the positive influence and optimism through his masterful blends of music.
Q: Since your career started in 2001, do you still get the “butterflies” in your stomach before going on stage?
DJV: Each performance is like a new experience for me, and I am always committed to giving each performance my best. Perhaps the pressure always came from within of myself, I do feel the jitters at time!
Q: Being a musician and a performer, with a crazy schedule often conflicts with family life and requires constant communication. The support from the family is critical for anything to be successful. How would you advise young professionals to establish strong ties with family while making choices or decisions for a career path?
DJV: To be honest, being a DJ as a career was not part of any pre-thought out plan. It started as a passionate interest of mine, and once you are fully committed to something, you find yourself diving in head first. Through these opportunities, I do want to express sincere appreciation of my mom, as she has been so supportive of me all along. At first, she was certainly not fond about what I do. Once I’d decided to let her gain more understanding of my work and let her tag along while I was working, slowly and gradually she began to be at ease of the idea. And later on, she was supported me greatly. There wouldn’t be a DJ Vonik without my family’s support. I truly need to shine the light of love and appreciate of my family as well as the many mentors in my life.
Q: Been a creator, there are often adversities and struggles that one must continually face. How do you acquire positive energy to find the opportunities to break through challenges and continue to elevate yourself?
DJV: When you find yourself stuck in the corner at times, you need to recognize things and take a deep breath. Keep up with routine workout and exercise habit, and accompany yourself with favorite music tunes. Give yourself some retreat time, and schedule getaway trips every two-to-three months. Creative sparks often come to you unexpectedly during these breaks.
Q: Finalizing each music mix means maintaining your unique creativity, tastes and DJ DNA. Do you embrace the same high standards when searching for compatible lifestyle apparel?
DJV: Absolutely. Being a DJ is just like any other entertainer, you lead the popular trends and personal style right on stage. My music and edgy venues often play a direct influence on the choice of my lifestyle apparel. When I came across the premium handcrafted bottoms by Golden Denim, it was certainly a refreshing inspiration for myself and my music. The “Golden” experience had sparked much energy and creativity for me to perform freely on stage with swag.
Q: In the DJ universe for music mixers, you represent an original and unique blend from Taiwan. How do you introduce or integrate your personal brand to the music world? Through each performance, how do you bring the world to Taiwan?
DJV: Through the musical field you create for listeners, the DJ serves as a vital navigator to guide fans on the journey of different genre of tunes and heart-pounding beats, step-by-step. Of course, if you want to incorporate more of your personality as a brand experience within the mix-music, it requires fine craftsmanship and continuous development to implement deeper layers of thought into the music. This allows each listeners to identify and share the unique tastes through their ears and it helps build the connection with the audience.
The history of electro music development in Taiwan isn’t a brief one. However, there is an enormous distance with Taiwan trailing from rest of the music world. Therefore, I created the “Ghost DJ Studio” two years ago with the objective to focus on the talent training and development of DJ fundamentals and electro music knowledge in Taiwan.
It certainly has not been an easy or simple task. But, this is my contribution to give back to the electro music community in Taiwan. My hope is that someday Taiwanese DJs will be fully connected with rest of the music world and proudly spin the discs on global stage.

It has been a true privilege to share my musical creations with in Taiwan and throughout Asia, and none of it could have happened without the love and support I have received throughout the years.
